Advice on usage
According to the type of cooking carried out, one of the three working speeds is used. The first and the second speeds are enough to eliminate cooking odours in most normal conditions. At these speeds, the range hood operates whisper silent. The third speed is used in particular cooking situations, where a great amount of fumes and odours is generated.
It is also recommended to switch on the range hood as soon as cooking is started and to keep it switched on while the cooking surface is operational, particularly with gas switch the range hood off a few minutes after the burner has been switched off.
FILTERS AND MAINTENANCE
Inside the range hood there may be two types of filters present: a metallic greaseproof filter, which has the task of preventing grease deposits from reaching the motor and in the ductless range hoods, there is an additional active carbon anti-odour filter. The active carbon filter purifies the air before re-circulating it back into the room. It is advisable to wash the metallic filters at least every two months, or even more frequently should it be necessary.
In the “electronic control” version, this function is managed by a light which signals when the filter should be cleaned. The active carbon filters should only be installed only if the range hood is used in a ductless or recirculation application.
Efficiency decreases with use of the active carbon filter and it is recommended that they be replaced at least every four months.
THE SUBSTITUTION OF THE FILTERS
Metal filters
In order to remove the metal greaseproof filter it is necessary to push the latch (A) until the filter drops out of the front runner; at this point, by slightly tipping it downwards, let it come out of the back runner. As for its insertion, simply reverse the operation. Active carbon filters
As for the replacement or installation of active carbon filters, proceed as follows: extract the metal filters as indicated above to access the motor chamber. With this area exposed it is easy to access the two square carbon filters which are hooked onto the air conveyor. Some range hoods may have the circular motor mounted version. In this case simple rotate the active carbon filter to disengage.
CLEANING
The initial cleaning of the range hood should be completed immediately after installation in order to remove the residues of adhesive from the protective film, grease or oil marks as well as dust from the worksite.
For this operation we recommend the use of the supplied Magic Steel wipes. Magic Steel wipes are also available as a sale item. Generally, the cleaning of the external part of the range hood should be carried out using a damp cloth with mild liquid detergent or mineral spirit.
As for the range hoods in Fasteel with anti-finger mark steel, we recommend the use of a mild soap and water solution with a soft cloth taking care to carefully rinse and dry the area. Products containing abrasive substances, cloths with rough surfaces or those commonly on sale specifically used for the cleaning of steel surfaces must not be used.
The use of abrasive substances and rough cloths will permanently damage the steel. Note, as with any stainless steel material it is imperative that you always wipe with the grain of the stainless, to help prevent scratching.
